More Halloween Fun - Home Decor

Here are a couple more Halloween projects using the Magic in this Night suite from Stampin' Up!

Magic in this Night Banner

I love creating banners. They make great home decor pieces and are so simple to make.  They also fold up so they are easy to store and pull out as the seasons change.

I started with Basic Black cardstock and added the designer series paper (DSP) from the Magic in this Night pack. The border die cut from black glitter paper continues across the banner with each panel showing a different punch or die. The cat punch, bats, and spiders, all cut from the black glitter paper, create a glittery focal point for each panel. The playful alphabets dies spell out BOO! And the stamp set is featured on the last panel.

To The Bat Mobile!

No, not the batmobile!

This was so fun to make.  I started with a piece of cardstock 4-1/4" x 2-1/2” and scored it on the short edge at 1/2”, 1”, 1-1/2”, and 2”

I folded on the score lines and added adhesive to create a tube.  I threaded the metallic mesh ribbon though the tube and tied it to create the hanger.  Two strips of the border dies cut from black glitter paper were added on each side as well as an additional strip of the glitter paper. The Happy Halloween was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then restamped with Versamark and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I fussy cut around it and added it to the top of the mobile.

I then strung twine through the holes and then added bats and spiders cut from the DSP and from glitter paper at various lengths. I created 3D bats with three of the same shape, scored down the centre and glued together around the twine.

The stamp set and dies can be purchased separately or as a bundle with 10% off. The DSP is a great mix of Halloween and floral images that can be used for any occasion.

Wishing everyone a Happy Halloween!

Halloween Magic

The Halloween products in the Aug-Dec 2020 mini catalogue are a real treat this year. Some spookiness, some cuteness and a whole suite of magical elegance.

Here are a few ideas for treats you can share featuring products from the Magic in This Night suite as well as other products from the mini catalogue.

Label Die Bag Toppers

The bag topper shown above was super easy using the Halloween Magic dies and the Mosaic Gusseted bags.  Add a little of the gorgeous Metallic Mesh ribbon and a few glittery bats and you’re done!

Little Treat Boxes

The Little Treats dies are so versatile and are perfect for every occasion with just a change of colour and embellishments. Here I’ve used Basic Black cardstock which I’ve embossed with the Cobwebs 3D embossing folder from the suite. Wrapped with a strip of the Magic in this Night designer series paper and tied with the Black Glittered Organdy ribbon it’s all set to add a yummy treat. The spider adds just the right amount of spookiness.

Round Tins Treat Holders

The round tins are larger than I expected and can fit packaged or homemade treats. I love that they are food safe.  I added a scalloped circle cut from the black glitter paper and a label punched from the DSP using the Label Me Lovely punch, and a stitched circle stamped with one of the great sentiments from the Hallows Night Magic stamp set.  The orange and purple wrapped chocolates from Quality Street Chocolates were a perfect treat to include.

Label Dies Candy Stick/Lip Balm Treat Holders

The label shapes from the Halloween Magic dies also make great treat holders shown on page 52 of the mini catalogue with lip balms in them.  With a few adjustments I found they worked for candy sticks I found at Bulk Barn as well.

Curly Wurly Treat Holder

This treat is a longtime favourite of mine.  Credit goes to Sam Hammond Donald from Pootles Papercrafting.  They are super simple to make and you can make 5 from one sheet of 12 x 12 paper. Simply cut the paper into 3" x 9" pieces and wrap them around using Tear & Tape or Seal + adhesive to secure.  The Curly Wurly chocolates can be found at Walmart, Bulk Barn, or anywhere British candies are sold.  Finish it off with a quick label and a bit of Metallic Mesh ribbon.

So many great options to create some fun, spooky treats!  Happy Halloween!
